Last June, as I was sitting on the old, carpeted ground in the choir room I once called home, I remember my choir teacher explaining to us sophomores getting ready for the summer before the upperclassmen life, that this was going to be the time that you change the most in your high school life. And as he was explaining this, us sophomore girls didn't realize what we were in for that upcoming autumn. Well, as I look back on that warm and sunny June day, I do realize how much I've change in the past 3 months. This summer, some of us experienced new things, met new people, and had the time of our lives. While others still haven't gone through the change. I believe that they will experience the difference, but some people go slower than others.
This summer, I had the opportunity to go to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip with my high school youth group. It was AMAZING! I did realize though that as some people believe that their role from God is to be a missionary, I feel the opposite. I am very thankful to have gone and after that trip, I conclude that the majority of us have changed something in our normal lives and still do think back on the people of La Cuaba. La Cuaba = LOVE As a group, we have also learned so much about each other and grew closer through God. As we listen to the stories of students in our own group and what they are going through, you can only think that you're not the only one going through the hard times, but even your closest friend understands your view.

That first day of Junior year was epic. It's cute to watch the young and new freshmen trying to find their classes and feeling out of place and lost. I remember those days when the upperclassmen were scary and intimidating. And then you see that beautiful senior guy that will never talk to you because he's a senior and your just an "immature" freshman. I know those times, I've experienced them. This year as an upperclassmen you might think that the freshmen are annoying, or they're always in your way, or you just might not think about them at all. Well in my case, I know at least a quarter of the freshmen class if not more, so it's cool helping them out or whatever. If I didn't have my upperclassmen friends I don't know how my freshman year would've turned out. Probably just like the first day of school, which was probably one of the worst days of my freshman year. The seniors played their prank and switched all the classroom numbers, not like I would've known where my classes were even if I did know the actual number. Then, I couldn't find my locker and on top of that, I couldn't open it. I also had a huge schedule conflict which meant sitting in the office for over an hour or two. NEVER go to the office during the first week of school! It was just a horrible day that started off my high school life.
What the freshmen don't understand is that they should take every moment as if it's their last because before they know it, high school is over. They also need to know that life doesn't end if you just get one bad grade or are not able to go to that awesome party with all the cute senior guys. I have learned to take in everything around me and not just try to skip through this time of my life because if I were just to skip through these short 4 years, then when the years are over what can I say that I did to help my school or what were the best memories that I have?
Take life as if it's your last day, because you never know when your last day will actually be.
