Eagles Unite!

Hey All,

I hope everyone's new year is kicking off to a great start! For me, this year is actually starting off well. This is the last 2 weeks of the 1st semester at Mira Costa, then I believe school will become a little easier and my senior year will actually include a social life. I'm excited for these next few months as a have many fun activities planned, from job interviews to concerts to college events and even some adventurous trips.

This past week, I had great confirmation as to the college I will be attending in the fall. At this point, I am seeing Biola in my future, but of course this is not 100% certain. My mom and I went to Biola on Thursday to talk with my counselor and to attend the financial aid seminar and to my mom's approval, the school is becoming suitable to my soon-to-be college lifestyle. In these next few months I have a couple opportunities to go back to the school and learn more, but everyday I am being open and willing, as well as praying and talking with God as to what my job here is to be, which includes being God's servant every day. This is a fun time in my life, and I'm exciting to keep seeing what God's next opportunities are for my life.

Adventures. Friends. Jesus.

1-1-11

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! This is the year I graduate from high school. Wow!

So, today was a very busy busy day to start off the new year. Well, to begin with, we (my mom, her cousin, and I) stayed in a motel near Pasadena which was a smart idea but wasn't the best night of sleep. Truthfully, I didn't sleep at all, instead I tossed and turned from 9:30pm-2am. It was loud with crazy football fans from Wisconsin and downtown traffic.

You get the point. No sleep.

My call time was 3am at the Girl Scout House in Arcadia. We got dressed in our uniforms and got on a bus to Pasadena. We arrived at 4am and to our surprise, the freeway was shut down for the parade. Our buses stopped next to the parked horses on the freeway, where we all got out and started walking to the Tournament of Roses House. It was interesting walking up the freeway ramp. As we passed the floats down the street, they are larger when you stand next to them than seen on tv. Basically, from 4-8am it was 39 degrees. ...our uniform was a skirt, my toes were frozen and were numb to the point that they hurt. We had a breakfast at the Tournament House, got the banners prepared for the parade, and had our flag ceremony for the parade. From then on it was about the 5.5 miles and 2.5 hours of a parade route carrying the banner for the Hall of Fame. My legs are dead after this and I was frozen to the point that I thought I was going to get pneumonia from this walk. It was such an adventure and a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Once that ended, we made our way quickly over to the Rose Bowl Game 2011. We got there early enough to take a 30 minute refresher nap. Then it was game on TCU vs. Wisconsin. As we entered the Stadium, it was all RED (Wisconsin). But once we got to our seats, it was 50/50, with a little more Red filling up the seats than purple. About 94,000 attendees total. Our seats were fantastic! We had 5th row on the 10th yard line. It was a great game that was very close between the teams but TCU made it through to WIN 21-19! Such a great game!

With that said, 2011 brings new adventures, challenges, friends, love and change. So, Happy New Year and continue to prosper in your new adventures.
